50 young creatives help spread the word on what intellectual property means to them

Fifty young creators representing all 28 EU countries gathered in Zagreb, Croatia, on 28-30 March to take part in the Ideas Powered Youth Workshop.

The workshop, which joined forces with the Leap Summit attended by 3,000 young entrepreneurs, looked at all things intellectual property (IP), helping participants understand how to protect their brands, businesses and of course their creativity. “Intellectual property is not only there to protect your creativity and your brand, it’s also really the ingredient to let your business grow”, as explained by one of the workshop’s ambassadors, Ben Woldring.

Guest speakers such as Google’s Marcin Olender, who spoke about IP in the digital age, and Malcolm Bain, IP lawyer and lecturer, also used their expertise to shed light on the trending IP topics that were of most interest to this year’s participants such as the EU’s new copyright directive.

Other hot issues surrounding IP were addressed through roundtable discussions, allowing participants to share their experiences and ideas on how to raise awareness for IP among their communities, which total over 750K Instagram followers and 2.7 million YouTube subscribers.
